Tomato Hunt- Parks and Recreation Month
Celebrate Park and Recreation Month this July with a community-wide Tomato Hunt!
July is recognized nationally as Park and Recreation Month by the National Recreation and Park Association, and the 2026 theme — “The Power Of” — shines a spotlight on the parks, programs, and people who make our communities stronger every day.
To celebrate, we’re inviting you to explore your local parks in a fun and fresh way! During our Tomato Hunt, search for tomato-themed surprises hidden throughout participating parks. Find them all to win fun swag and be entered into a drawing for a grand prize basket!
Throughout July 2026, Park and Recreation Month highlights how parks and recreation bring people together, strengthen health and well-being, and build resilient, connected communities. Together, we’re celebrating:
- The Power of Connection – Where relationships grow, cultures meet, and communities bond.
- The Power of Play – From playgrounds to youth sports and programs, play fuels creativity, joy, and lifelong learning.
- The Power of Community – Public spaces create room for everyone to gather, celebrate, and heal.
- The Power of Nature – Parks provide access to nature’s restorative and inspiring benefits.
- The Power of Belonging – Welcoming parks and programs ensure every person feels valued.
- The Power of Well-Being – Parks and recreation advance health, resilience, and shared community strength.
Join us this July as we celebrate the transformative power of parks and recreation — and have a little tomato-themed fun along the way!
